Introduction
: Those with responsibilities for managing environmental issues - supervisors, line-managers, safety and health professionals and risk managers.

The Aims: To enable delegates to appreciate the environmental issues relating to their work activity and workplace and to develop an understanding of how to manage them.

The Objectives: On Completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • identify environmental hazards from a general and organisational perspective
  • apply management principles relating to environmental issues
  • take part in environmental reviews
  • explain the requirements of an environmental management system
  • identify the main requirements of environmental legislation.

Course Structure: The course is arranged into 7 modules and provides an understanding of the knowledge and skills required to contribute to an effective health

  • environmental issues and their management
  • the legal requirement
  • the control and management of environmental resources

  • air
  • land
  • environmental management systems.

Assessment of the Course: Short answer assessment paper.

Project: Practical assessment to be carried out in the workplace.
