IRM - Managing Risk
Audience: Directors and Senior Managers, Insurance Managers, Health & Safety Practitioners and Internal Auditors.
Aims: To provide course delegates with the understanding of the requirements of corporate governance as outlined in the Turnbull report and appreciate the systems required for good internal control.
Objectives: By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- outline the concept of risk and why it should be managed
- understand the links between corporate governance and risk management
- explain how to manage risk using the process described by the risk management cycle
- understand the techniques used to assess, control and monitor risk
- understand the principles of risk financing.
Course Structure: The course is arranged into 6 modules and gives the delegate an understanding of the skills required to implement an effective risk management system.
Topics include:
- risk Identification
- risk Analysis techniques
- applying risk control strategies
- risk financing techniques
- monitoring and reviewing systems.
Assessment of the Course: The course is assessed by a written assessment paper and a project. Successful completion of the programme results in the award of an Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Certificate.
