About the Course: Every business has a range of risks. Identifying risks and learning to manage them is a key skill that all managers need to enhance business performance and meet good standards of corporate governance. This new course gives the knowledge and practical skills to help managers and other professionals deal effectively with business risk. Developed by the Institute of Risk Management, the course is accredited to only a few specialist providers, approved and licensed by the Institute. Cundiff & Mills Consulting Limited has been granted a licence by the Institute in recognition of its strong expertise in all aspects of total risk management.
Course Outline:
Session 1: Risk Management and Corporate Governance Introduced
Brief history of risk management in the UK; the Risk Management Standard; purpose and benefit of risk management
Session 2: Risk Assessment, Analysis and Evaluation
Overview of risk identification and assessment techniques; practical application of flowcharts, brainstorming, risk profiling.
Session 3: Risk Treatment – Risk Control
Development and effectiveness of risk controls. Contingency planning; standards and guidelines. Acceptable risk.
Session 4: Risk Treatment – Risk Financing
The concept of risk financing, total cost of risk. Review of financing techniques of risk transfer, retention and insurance.
Session 5: Corporate Governance, Reporting, Monitoring, Embedding
Development and requirements of codes and corporate governance for public and private sectors. Key requirements for embedding a risk management culture in an organisation.
