NEBOSH - National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health
Introduction: Suitable for managers, supervisors, safety representatives and those with a responsibility for co-ordinating health and safety in the workplace.
The Objectives: At the end of the course delegates will be able to identify hazards in the workplace and suggest suitable controls; understand the function of a health and safety management system; conduct a safety inspection of the workplace and write a report to management on the findings.
Course Structure: The course is divided into three distinct units and students have the option of spreading their study over a five year period.
- NGC1 management of safety and health in the workplace
- NGC2 control of hazards in the workplace
- NGC3 practical exam.
Topics Include:
NGC1
- legal requirements relating to health and safety in the workplace
- assessing and reducing risks
- aspects of safety management and human behaviour
- monitoring safety in the workplace
NGC2
- managing health and safety
- common workplace hazards and methods of control
- health hazards
- construction safety
Assessment of the Course: Two written examination papers NGC1 and NGC2; each paper is of two hours' duration. The practical test NGC3 involves an inspection of a workplace and the preparation of a report on the inspection. A certificate is awarded for each successfully completed unit. NGC3 (practical test) must be taken with either NGC1 or NGC2 written paper.
Course Length: The course consists of 12 lecture days, plus exam days.

NGC1 £650 + VAT (includes written paper)
NGC2 £700 + VAT (includes written paper)
NGC3 £100 + VAT (half day exam preparation and practical exam)
