Course Dates

Audience: Any person where, by the nature of their job, puts them at risk of violence or aggression and any manager who is responsible for any such person

Aims: To provide course delegates with an understanding of the key roles, responsibilities and tasks when undertaking an assessment of risks to persons from any incident/occurrence where there may be a physical/mental threat of violence associated with normal work duties.

Objectives: On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • outline the concept of personal safety and why it should be managed
  • understand the links between lone working and risk of violence
  • understand the techniques used to assess, control and monitor the risk of violence
  • understand how to manage the risk of violence through communication, job design, working environments and equipment.
  • understand the principles of conflict resolution
  • understand the principles and actions of post violence management

Course Structure:

Topics include:  

  • legal responsibilities
  • identification of those at risk
  • conflict resolution and use of attack alarms
  • managing the risk through communication, job design, working environments and equipment.
  • post event management

Assessment of Course: There is no assessment of the course. All delegates receive a certificate of attendance.
